A True Licean

Life is a long journey full of challenges. In order to enjoy it, we must learn how to go with the flow and educate ourselves, not only in academic but also in all aspects of our lives.

We believe that education is the most powerful weapon, which we can use to change the world. For Education is the mother of leadership. Through it, we can fulfill Dr.Jose Rizal's vision that the youth is the the hope of our motherland. As we process imparting knowledge, values, skills and attitude, we are also learning. Learning is a long process indeed. We do not learn in just one day nor one year, for it takes a lot of courage, sacrifice and dedication. But we should never let ourselves drown in fears, because in the end, everything will be all worth it.

As a Licean, we are taught to develop excellence, to live with integrity and loyalty, to practice discipline, and to render genuine service to our fellow beings. So we sustain and be part of our University's Vision of Total Human Transformation. But are we doing enough? What is really a True Licean then? We know its hard to determine, right? But as we ponder, we come to realized that a True Licean, is someone who is striving to live and apply the core values of our school to his daily life. Not only inside the campus, but also outside.

Aristotle once said, "Educating the mind without educating the heart, is no education at all". It only means that as we work hard to earn a degree, lets not also forget to cultivate our hearts to do better, be better, and become the best version of ourselves. That we may become light to others in our own little way. Isn't it nicer when people remember you as a good person, rather than intelligent one? Isn't it?

We surely think so. True Licean for us is someone who is not afraid to stand for what is right. Someone who's not necessarily the intelligent nor the perfect one, but still striving to live with good values and integrity, knowing his carrying the University's name. And someone who do good even if no one sees it, and serving others out of charity instead of compliance and conformity. In a world full "Sana all", a True Licean will make a stand to be "The One". The one who will choose the harder right, than the easier wrong. And the one who will stand for truth and righteousness.
